Why am I getting a Prop 65 warning when I place an online nut/candy order?
Proposition 65 is a California law that requires a "clear and reasonable warning" to consumers for products that contain chemicals known to the State of California to cause cancer, birth defects, or other reproductive harm. For details, click here.
Will we use a software system for ordering, calculating sales, and girl recognitions?
Yes, the software system is called M2OS. It can handle nut, magazine, and personalized product orders. September training dates will be posted on the GSGLA website (www.girlscoutsla.org).
Will an ACH (Automatic Clearing House) system to collect funds be due to council?
Yes, the debit will be on the first Friday in December, so make sure you have sufficient funds to cover the amount due at least seven days before this debit date. Processing times for deposits vary; do not wait until the day before the debit is scheduled to deposit money into your troop account; you should be depositing promptly and frequently and encouraging your parents to be turning over funds they/their daughter have/has collected promptly and frequently.
If I am a Juliette, can I still participate in the fall program?
Yes. Reach out to the product program manager in your area so she can put you in touch with the service unit fall product chair nearest you.
Will there be a fall Gift of Caring (GOC) program?
Yes, customers may make monetary GOC donations (in $7 increments). GSGLA will then purchase nuts to be sent to the LAX USO, local food banks through the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank, and Operation Gratitude. Gift of Caring receipts are available for those that request one.
What about the magazine portion of the sale?
All magazine orders are taken online. When a girl (with her parent) sets up her storefront in M2OS she will be emailing family and friends about her sale. A link in that email will direct her customers to her store where they can choose to order nut/candy products and/or order/renew magazine subscriptions. For magazines, the troop will receive 20% of the total dollar amount sold. This portion of the program is linked directly with the nut/candy portion, she doesn’t need to do anything different when setting up her storefront, her customers will be sent links to both shopping areas.
Do I need to participate in both the Fall Product Program and Cookie Program in order to do any additional money-earning events/projects? What is the current participation definition?
Additional Money Earning
Beginning with the 2021 Fall Product Program, the participation definition has been updated to the following in order for a troop to do any additional money-earning projects:
Troops and girls must participate in both council-sponsored product programs to be eligible to do additional money-earning projects. Participation is demonstrated by the girls learning or enhancing the 5 Skills, and contribution towards the support of program activities for Girl Scouts throughout the Greater Los Angeles council.
Participation is defined by 50% of the registered girls in the troop both earning the Participation Patch and meeting or exceeding the emails-sent reward requirement for each council-sponsored product program (emails must be sent through the applicable vendor software to qualify).
The 2024 Fall Product Program and 2025 Cookie Program Participation patch and emails-sent requirements are defined as:
Fall Product Program = 10 units per girl (nuts/candy product = 1 unit each; magazine order = 2 units each) and 18+ emails sent through M2OS.
Cookie Program = 24 packages of cookies per girl and 18+ emails sent through Digital Cookie.
Senior/Ambassador Gold Award Girls
A Senior/Ambassador Girl Scout earning her Gold Award must participate in the council-sponsored product programs, earn the participation patch, and send 18 emails through our vendor platforms in both programs in order to do any additional money-earning projects needed to support her Gold Award project.
NOTE: Troop participation to support girls working on Gold Award projects with money-earning components is encouraged; however, it is not required that 50% of the registered girls reach the participation level defined above.
I understand there is a service unit bonus. What is that?
We know you have big plans to support your troops next year but might be a little short on funds to do that. Here's a high-level answer. Set a service unit goal of at least X units per girl selling. Organize your team on how to achieve it. Service units that have the minimum required 55% participation rate AND have a Per-Girl Average (PGA) that meets or exceeds the target (45+), will receive proceeds per number of units sold.
Example: If in 2021 a SU had 200 girls registered as of Oct. 1, 2021, and 110 girls participated, their participation is 55%.
